Sip & Paint / Harvest edition
Sip & Paint: Harvest Edition – Welcoming Autumn with Friends, Creativity, and Cake.
On the 21st of September, we gathered again at my place for one of my favourite, cosiest group activities. This time felt extra special as it marked the official end of summer, making a Harvest theme the perfect way to welcome the changing seasons.
Everyone brought a fruit or vegetable to add to a big, seasonal composition at the center of the table. I also managed to find and picked some wildflowers still blooming around. Together, we arranged a beautiful composition in the center of the table. A rich, colourful blend of fruits, veggies, and wildflowers.
Once our display was set, we all picked our spots and got to work, painting what we saw from our own perspectives. It’s always fascinating to see how varied the results are, with no two paintings ever the same. That’s the magic of these gatherings – the diversity of creative expression!
As always, there was plenty of sipping and chatting as we worked, with lots of laughs along the way. While sharing stories and encouraged each other’s creative experiments, we also enjoyed slices of a simple cake I made using yellow plums (obsessed with a new recipe, baking it with all kind of seasonal fruits). There’s something so cozy about enjoying homemade treats while painting - it’s honestly the perfect combo. Some of us worked on canvas, while others used paper – with materials ranging from aquarelle and crayons to acrylic paint. Everyone brought their own flair and medium of choice, whether sticking to a favourite or challenging themselves with something new. Our own rules, pure creative freedom.
This wasn’t our first themed edition. In the past, we’ve had Bob Ross-style you-can-do-it landscapes and a session inspired by Gary Jenkins' lovely floral work. What I love most about these get-togethers is the relaxed, intimate atmosphere. There’s no pressure to create a masterpiece—it's all about having fun, making art, and spending quality time with friends.
I’m already excited for our next edition! Maybe we’ll dream up something wintery for the colder months ahead, but whatever the theme, I know it’ll be a great time. If you’ve never done a Sip & Paint with friends, you should definitely give it a try. It’s such a lovely, creative way to spend time together. I believe everybody should get messy and creative from time to time. Just grab some materials, pour yourself a drink, and dive in!
